  1. the 90 was pretty fast for a 1.6L

  2. actualy the US models were called miatas and also have the mx5 badge on them. And the US also had the eunos verson and some miatas/mx5’s came with the momo or a nardie steering wheel

  3. @Gcbrd Out of the box, yes. But only because it has a bigger engine and better brakes. The old ones can easily be made faster.

  4. @AkarZaephyr I think my modified ’92 1.8 is pretty sporty. If it gets any lower and stiffer I can’t drive it on the road. Does a huge engine make a sports car? Not, really.

  5. @wazawizam If you care about that you shouldn’t get one. It may look like a girls car to some, but my ’92 1.8 would be quite a handful for an inexperienced driver, especially on slippery roads.

  6. @sydneyfc My ’92 1.8 that I got this summer has 280000+ kilometres on it. Except for a broken door handle I haven’t noticed any problems. It’s a blast on twisty asphalt roads. Not fun on dirt roads (my car is lowered with stiffer suspension). With the top down on the motorway it feels like your hair will rip out. Lots of fun for very little money IMO.

  7. I like my modified ’92 1.8, even if it’s not in top condition. We have lots of narrow twisty roads, and the little MX-5 sticks like glue in the corners. Many owners here drive in snow (with snow tires or studded tires all around). The only problem in the winter is that my car is lowered.
