Chevettes were actually much better cars than most people gave them credit for. The design was shared with the Opel Kadette, Vauxhall Chevette, Holden Gemini and various Isuzu models. They were no ball of fire, but the only real technical problem I ever heard on them was that the rear brakes were kind of a pain to replace and adjust. I’m sure there are new cars with worse systems.
blanderswake is correct in my opinion. Truly though, it’s going to matter about how well the previous owners took care of the vehicle. If that car has seen some airtime and few oil changes then I wouldn’t put my money on that horse. If a little old lady used it to put-put to the grocery store every weekend and back and kept it up with maintenance then that car is more-than-likely reliable.
I like them. The only recurring problem I ever had with them was the rear axle assembly. It was weak as you can imagine and I had problems with axle bearings.
it should be ok but it depends on how well kept it is..if it sat up the carb could be cloged or A valve might sticlor sometin..i just bought my first truck its an 88 chevy stepside and the only problems i got is aircondition no heater coils and a clogged fuel filt good luck
